Husqvarna 415X vs 450X EPOS — Step-Up vs Flagship
The Husqvarna Automower 415X and 450X EPOS sit at different points in Husqvarna's robot mower range. The 415X is the step-up wire-guided model rated for medium yards. The 450X EPOS is Husqvarna's wire-free flagship rated for estate-tier coverage. Both are Husqvarna; almost everything else differs.

Where the 415X wins
Price
The 415X sits in a much lower price tier than the 450X EPOS. For sub-1,500 sqm yards, the 415X delivers Husqvarna build quality and the brand's mature service network at less than half the 450X EPOS's MSRP. Paying flagship money on a 1,000 sqm yard means buying capability that will never be used.
Lighter chassis
9.7 kg versus 14.4 kg matters for owners who lift the unit for storage, winter stowage, or transport between properties. The 415X is genuinely portable; the 450X EPOS is more of a fixed-installation mower.
Wire navigation works under canopy
The 415X uses perimeter wire — boundary detection works regardless of sky view. For yards with heavy tree canopy where RTK satellite signal would degrade, wire is the more reliable technology. The 450X EPOS is designed for open-sky estate lawns; under canopy its accuracy drops.
Slightly quieter and more weather-sealed
62 dB versus 65 dB is a real-world audible difference. IPX5 versus IPX4 means the 415X is rated for higher-pressure water spray exposure. Neither difference is decisive, but for HOA yards or rainier climates the 415X has a small edge.
Where the 450X EPOS wins
Coverage and runtime
10,117 sqm versus 1,500 sqm. The 450X EPOS is rated for properties up to 2.5 acres. The 415X tops at roughly a third of an acre. For any yard above 1,500 sqm the 415X is the wrong tool — it cannot keep up with grass growth across the full area. The 450X EPOS's 210-minute runtime per charge is over four times the 415X's 50 minutes, which is what makes the larger coverage rating achievable.
Wire-free
RTK satellite navigation eliminates the 4–8 hour perimeter wire installation. Boundary changes are made in the app rather than by digging. For estate-tier properties where wire installation would mean kilometres of perimeter loop, the 450X EPOS is the only practical option in the Husqvarna lineup.
Smart features
The 450X EPOS adds IFTTT integration on top of the standard Husqvarna app and smart-home features available on the 415X. Both have GPS theft tracking. The 450X EPOS's wider cutting head (9.45" vs 8.7") completes coverage cycles faster, which matters at the larger area rating.
Slightly steeper slope
45% versus 40% is a 5-percentage-point edge for the 450X EPOS. Both are 2WD; for genuinely steep yards (50%+) Husqvarna's 435X AWD is the right pick from their lineup.
Decision matrix
| If your yard is... | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Under 1,500 sqm with mature trees | 415X | Wire works under canopy; coverage matches yard |
| Under 1,500 sqm, open sky, budget priority | 415X | Cheaper; coverage rating sufficient |
| 1,500–10,000 sqm, open sky | 450X EPOS | Only Husqvarna option in this coverage tier |
| 1,500–3,000 sqm, heavy canopy | 415X (with multiple cycles) or 435X AWD | Wire under canopy beats RTK |
| Open lawn, prefer wire-free even at small size | 450X EPOS | If budget allows; saves wire install |
| Yard layout changes often | 450X EPOS | Virtual boundaries via app; no wire to re-dig |
